SokoBack - ZX Spectrum Next Edition
A downloadable game
Every box in SokoBack has a permanent tendency: a direction it has always wanted to travel. Push it, release it, and it slides that way until something stops it — a wall, another box, or the arrangement you built on purpose.
So you do not carry boxes to their places. You build a shape that holds itself up. A room is solved when every box rests on a goal and nothing is still moving.
50 levels across 9 worlds , each world with its own palette and its own idea. Every one of them was proved solvable by a solver before it shipped, and the game knows the shortest solution — which is why it can award you three stars for matching it, and why it never asks you for something impossible.
Written for the machine
This is a native ZX Spectrum Next build, not a port running on top of something else. Layer 2, the tilemap and hardware sprites do the drawing;
All three AY chips play the score, so the music is wider than a Spectrum has any right to sound. No loading between levels — the whole game is in memory.

You should mention right away that this isn't exactly a standard Sokoban game :) Still, I managed to figure out how to play it. It’s an interesting concept, though it takes a bit more time to really get a feel for the game.
The music sounds a bit harsh; either the high-frequency channel needs to be turned down, or there should be an option to turn off the music while keeping just the sound effects.
As always, I opened the manual only after I’d already learned how to play :)
Sound gave me hell in development, truth be told. I wanted to retain the music themes from its upcoming PC version, but seems like I went too far with the intensity :D . Will fix this in the upcoming update!
